Seligdar launches gravity separation at the Murzinskoye-1 deposit

25.03.2022

The Federal Subsoil Resources Management Agency (Rosnedra) acting through the geology and licensing department for Altai region (Altainedra) approved the skarn ore-processing project at the Murzinskoye-1 deposit.

Thus, POISK LLC, a Seligdar Holding’s subsidiary, may start processing of 668 thousand tons of ore containing 1,200 kg of gold. The throughput ability of processing based on the production profitability will be approximately 200 thousand tons per year.

The technical procedure of the skarn ores processing was developed by Center of expert systems for technological audit of subsoil resources management Estageo, the Seligdar’s partner in scientific and technological research. The POISK’s gold processing plant will be put into operation in accordance with this technical procedure and related project.

“When a company obtains a clear planning horizon it has always a positive impact on the company. The skarn ores of the Murzinskoye deposit are sufficient to continue production for three years. I think that during this time we will conduct geological prospecting of our new deposits: Kuryinskaya area, Tolstukha, Murzinskoye-3, and, thus, we will get even wider perspectives,” explained Vladimir Olyunin, Head of POISK LLC.

Skarn deposits are formed by mineral fluids during metasomatism when carbonate rocks interact with intrusive igneous silicate rocks. In a simplistic way, skarns contain many different secondary compounds. While being a conservative mineral, gold often forms complex physico-chemical assemblages with skarn compounds.

“It is a great piece of luck that studies showed possibility to extract gold from these refractory ores through gravity separation. It is a quite simple and ecological way to process ore,” noted Vladimir Olyunin, Head of the POISK LLC.
