Seligdar supports initiative of young Altai geologists

18.08.2025

Polymetallic Holding Group Seligdar (MOEX: SELG; hereinafter referred to as the “Holding Group” or “Seligdar”) sponsored the participation of the young geologists’ team Altai Magpies in the XV All-Russian Open Field Olympiad of Young Geologists, which had recently concluded in Perm krai.

This year’s Olympiad brought together nearly 300 school students from 29 regions of Russia, as well as participants from Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.

Over the course of ten days, the students competed in a series of contests, attended lectures and engaged in scientific and practical workshops. In addition, the Altai Magpies presented an exhibition stand showcasing the results and materials of their scientific expeditions over the past two years to the Murzinskoye deposit, where gold is mined by Poisk, a production complex within the Holding Group.

One of the key competitions was the Geological Route, where participants were required to conduct a short but comprehensive geological field expedition. The challenge tested their ability to navigate terrain, identify rocks and minerals, and maintain a field diary. The Altai Magpies achieved strong results in this discipline.

Elena Kashkarova, Deputy Team Leader of the Altai Magpies, commented:

"For the first time in many years of participating in the Olympiad, the students realised that victory is within reach despite the strength of their competitors. One of the key factors behind their success has been the collaboration with Seligdar, which provides regular hands-on training."

In July, the young Altai geologists completed their field practice at the Murzinskoye deposit. Their training programme combined both theoretical and practical sessions, delivered by Seligdar specialists and lecturers from Novosibirsk State University.
