The Polymetallic Holding Group Seligdar (hereinafter referred to as the "Holding Group" or "Seligdar"), the Government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the Corporation for the Development of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), and Taymyr Invest have signed an agreement to implement a pilot project for the creation of a small-scale coal-fired power plant with a capacity of up to 25 MW in the Ust-Yanskiy District of the Republic.
The document was signed at the Eastern Economic Forum by the Head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Aysen Nikolaev; the founder of Seligdar PJSC, Konstantin Beirit; the Chief Executive Officer of Taimyr Invest, Marat Tyakin; and the Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation for the Development of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Vasiliy Yefimov.
The resource base for the power plant will be coal from the Kular deposit.
The pilot project is expected to be implemented on an investment basis without direct budget funding, with the developed model to be subsequently used for similar projects in other districts of the Republic.

"Reliance on local coal resources, such as the Kular deposit, reduces logistics costs and makes energy more accessible. We are creating a working mechanism that will enable the development of individual territories of Yakutia, providing them with stable energy supply for decades to come."
Seligdar is exploring the project for the construction of a coal-fired power plant in the Ust-Yanskiy District of Yakutia due to the need to create backup generation for the future Kyuchus mining and metallurgical complex (MMC). According to the licence terms, the main power supply of at least 35 MW is to be provided by a small nuclear power plant (SNPP) of Rosenergoatom Concern JSC. Since some of the MMC facilities fall under the first category of power supply reliability, the availability of redundant power generation capacity is required.
Konstantin Beirit, founder of Seligdar PJSC:
"We are considering various options for providing our own facilities with power generation. The quality of the Kular resource base could become a cost-effective solution as an alternative source for generating the electricity needed to develop Kyuchus."
