Seligdar and National University of Science and Technology MISIS completed joint research project

26.04.2024

Polymetallic Holding Seligdar (hereafter Seligdar) and National University of Science and Technology MISIS completed a research project that resulted in a method found to improve recovery of gold from gold sulphide ore from the Kyuchus deposit. The end-to-end recovery of gold into sulphide concentrate obtained from primary ores is 5-7% higher using optimisation of a number of key technological parameters.

The joint research project helped to develop a unique method for removing antimony from arsenopyrite concentrate. The technology relates to flotation beneficiation of gold sulphide ores containing gold as the main valuable component. The scheme involves partial collective-selective flotation and removal of antimony and carbonaceous matter, which interfere with further processing of the concentrate, into separate products.

The found method, based on the results of the research that was carried out from September 2023 to April 2024 on the grounds of MISIS, may become one of the possible technological solutions for processing refractory primary ore from the Kyuchus deposit. The material for the research were samples that were collected during geological exploration work carried out in 2023 when over 110 thousand running meters were drilled.

Currently, Seligdar and National University of Science and Technology MISIS filed an application with the Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent) for a patent for the technology of selective flotation of stibnite from gold sulphide ores.

National University of Science and Technology MISIS is a leading university in materials science and technology, mining. The institution is one of the five best universities in Russia in terms of research, design and development.
