Young Geologists of Altai Complete Training at Seligdar Deposit

01.07.2025

The polymetallic Holding Group Seligdar once again welcomed young geologists and mineralogists from the YunGeoAltai programme to the Murzinskoye deposit, located in the Krasnoschekovskiy District of the Altai region. The deposit is currently being developed by the Poisk production complex. Each year, students from Novosibirsk, Novokuznetsk, Gorno-Altaisk, and Barnaul come to the site to complete field training. Both specialists from Seligdar and lecturers from Novosibirsk State University contribute by sharing their theoretical and practical expertise.

During the programme, participants studied the fundamentals of geology, mineralogy, and geochemistry. Under the guidance of experienced mentors, they conducted field research, learned how to identify minerals and rock types, and practiced analysing geological data.

The Murzinskoye deposit hosts more than 250 mineral species, making it a truly unique geological site — comparable in scientific significance to the geothermal springs and gas systems of the Kuril Islands or the Khibiny Mountains. It is here that the new mineral Lednevit was first discovered.

Seligdar is committed to engaging with young people. School students are offered the opportunity to participate in annual summer work programmes, which include both developmental and career-orientation components. For university and vocational college students, the company organises familiarisation visits to its operational sites as part of special initiatives, which may lead to future employment opportunities.
