A ceremony summarising the performance results of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) chess team was held at the Republican Chess and Draughts Centre in Yakutsk. As part of the event, Seligdar PJSC presented the team with new unified sportswear sets. The Company continues to support the development of the chess movement in the region.
Vladimir Egorov, President of the Chess Federation, highlighted the team’s strong achievements at both Russian and international competitions. This year, Yakutia’s chess players won four medals at the Russian Championship, including two gold medals. The team also demonstrated success internationally: Albert Postnikov won a tournament in Serbia, and Artur Vasilyev took first place at an international tournament dedicated to Lev Tolstoy. A notable milestone was achieved by Arina Vasilyeva, who fulfilled the FIDE Woman Master norm—an important step in her sporting career.
Vladimir Egorov, President of the Chess Federation, commented:
“The team's results reflect systematic work by the coaching staff and steady progress in the athletes’ training levels. We would like to thank Seligdar PJSC for its meaningful support, which directly contributes to the achievement of sporting goals.”
Danil Nikolin, Head of Seligdar PJSC’s Yakutsk Office, added:
“Supporting sports is one of the priority areas of our corporate social policy. We deeply appreciate the efforts of our athletes who represent the Republic at national and international competitions. Together with the Federation, we also organise regular special events. One such event this year was a simultaneous exhibition on 50 boards held in central Yakutsk, featuring professional chess players and local residents. The tournament was dedicated to the company’s 50th anniversary.”
During the ceremony, the new official team kit was presented to members of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) chess team: Artur Vasilyev, Arina Vasilyeva, Vladislav Zhirkov, Aleksander Ivanov, Evdokia Izbekova, David Mestnikov, Polina Pak, Albert Postnikov, Valeria Sleptsova, Arseniy Chumayevskiy, and the team’s head coach Roman Ganzhurov.
The presentation of the new sportswear concluded the event and served as a symbolic gesture of support ahead of the team’s upcoming participation in the Russian Team Cup, scheduled from 23 November to 1 December.
