The annual traditional fishing festival "Northern Baikal" took place in northern Buryatia. The event, held in the Slyudyanskie Lakes in the Severo-Baikalskiy District of the Republic, brings together ice fishing enthusiasts from across Russia.
The event is annually supported by the Polymetallic Holding Group Seligdar (hereinafter referred to as the Holding Group or Seligdar). This year, Seligdar facilitated purchase of the grand prize—a Buran snowmobile. The winner of the competition was the team "Cheshuyka," whose members outscored their competitors by a wide margin. Around 50 teams participated in the event.
The event was a rich and varied experience for guests. The program included sports competitions, artistic performances, and vibrant presentations of Evenki culture. Participants were able to not only learn about traditional crafts and trades but also sample unique dishes of the national cuisine.
Igor Pukharev, Head of the Severo-Baikalskiy District of the Republic of Buryatia:
"I am very pleased that we were once again able to gather ice fishing enthusiasts for this wonderful, traditional event. I thank our sponsors and partners for their support in holding the 16th Northern Baikal fishing event."
