Seligdar supported the Reindeer Herder’s Day in the Aldan district

14.03.2023

The Reindeer Herder’s Day was held in Khatystyr village, administrative centre of the Belletskiy Evenk nasleg in the Aldan district of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). Seligdar PJSC (hereafter Holding or Seligdar) took part in the traditional Evenk herder festivities.

The Herder’s Day is rooted in the traditional festive ritual culture of the indigenous people of the Aldan plateau: fair, national cuisine, reindeer races, Evenk songs and sports competitions.

Competitions in national sports included throwing a maut on a khorey (throwing a lasso on a herder stick), jumping over Nardy (sled) and other competitions in agility and strength.

The highlight events of the sports programme were reindeer racing in two categories: reindeer riding and Nardy (sled) riding.

The winner of the sled race received the main prize of the Day - a new snowmobile ‘Buran Leader Ade’ provided by Seligdar PJSC.

The Holding traditionally helps local ethnic groups by supporting social initiatives and cultural traditions of the indigenous small-numbered people. The Reindeer Herder’s Day is a celebration of not only Belletskiy nasleg but all the citizens of the Aldan district and the Seligdar’s employees.

‘Khatystyr village is situated in 60 km from the Aldan town, we allocated corporate transport for all the employees, sent field kitchen and, I think, that pleased all the guests of the celebration. The Reindeer Herder’s Day is a very positive event. We intend to continue maintaining good neighbourly relations and participate in the preservation and promotion of the unique cultures of the peoples of the North’, noted CEO of Seligdar PJSC Sergey Tatarinov.

The Head of the Belletskiy Evenk national nasleg Julustan Sidorov highly appreciated partner relations with Seligdar: ‘The old-time relationship between agriculture and industry, which seemed to be weakening in the 1990s, is now strengthening again. We, reindeer herders, residents of Khatystyr village, feel the support of Seligdar and other large companies, and we say: thank you!’

The Belletskiy nasleg is habitat of the Evenks, one of the indigenous peoples of the Eastern Siberia, the North and the Far East. In total, there are more than 77 thousand representatives of this people in the world; half of them live in Russia.

Seligdar and the Belletskiy Nasleg are long-time partners. The Holding sponsors on an ongoing basis the national Reindeer Herder’s Day and supports other social projects of the Nasleg.
