Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic and Rusolovo PJSC agreed to develop mining and mineral processing industry in the Far East and the Arctic

as a part of the projects, the first since 1942 metallurgical plant producing tin metal will be constructed in Russia.

Rusolovo PJSC (MOEX: ROLO, hereafter Company or Rusolovo) and Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic (KRDV) entered into a number of agreements on cooperation for the purpose of development of mining and mineral processing industry in the Far East and the Arctic, in particular, to implement a project of metallurgical plant construction in the Khabarovsk region, investment projects of the Pyrkakay stockworks development in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug and Oktyabrskoye, Perevalnoye, Solnechnoye deposits development in the Khabarovsk region.

The official ceremony took place at the 8th Eastern Economic Forum on September 12, 2023. The document was signed by General Director of the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic Nikolay Zapryagaev and President of Seligdar PJSC Konstantin Beirit.

Nikolay Zapryagaev, General Director of the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, commented:

‘The agreements envisage cooperation in the field of investment projects of Rusolovo PJSC in the Khabarovsk region and Chukotka Autonomous Okrug. Their implementation will provide a complex support for the tin industry: from the development of the mineral resource base to construction of a metallurgical plant. The investor plans to invest 38 billion Russian roubles; 200 new jobs will be created at the new tin metallurgical plant, first in Russia since 1942. The Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic will assist in designing investment projects taking account of demands and potential of the macro-region; we will also analyse infrastructure provision of the projects and determine necessary tools of the governmental support’.

Konstantin Beirit, President of the Seligdar Holding, noted:

‘The signed agreement will allow speeding up development of our projects in the tin mining and processing in the two regions of the Far East: in the Khabarovsk region and Chukotka. Revival of the tin industry is a strategically important issue for the country. The metal is a necessary component for ensuring the Russia’s import-independence and for safeguarding its sovereignty. The tin is used in alloys for electronics, in machinery, chemical and defence industries’.
