The Polymetallic Holding Group Seligdar (hereinafter referred to as the "Holding Group" or "Seligdar”) has commenced the main construction works for the second phase of the semi-dry tailings storage facility modernisation at the Ryabinovy Production Complex in the Aldan District of Yakutia. The project is designed to further minimise environmental risks.
The commissioning of the second building of the facility will bring the semi-dry tailings storage capacity to nearly 100% of the filtered cake volume from the gold recovery plant’s processing operations. The works include the installation of four filter presses, a thickener for filtrate treatment, a washwater neutralisation unit, and the construction of filter cake storage areas.
The project will enable the gradual decommissioning of the existing tailings storage facilities at the gold recovery plant in the future. The first phase of the semi-dry tailings storage facility was previously commissioned at Ryabinovy. In early 2025, the second-phase project for the ore processing facility reconstruction received positive conclusions from the State Environmental Expert Review and Glavgosexpertiza (the Main State Expert Review Authority).
The semi-dry storage method involves a technological process that achieves a high degree of tailings densification to a paste-like state with a high solids content. The works are aimed at improving the environmental performance of the complex through the reclamation of the tailings storage facility and the decommissioning of hydraulic structures.
