Seligdar entered the Forbes rating of Best employers and earned silver status

PJSC Seligdar (MOEX: SELG), one of the leading gold and tin producers, entered the Forbes rating of Best employers and earned silver status.

The 2021 rating of Russia’s best employers by Forbes includes 104 largest Russian companies. Three differently graded dimensions “Employees and society”, “Ecology” and “Corporate governance” were assessed, and the scores were summed up. The rating did not assume allocating places but the participants were distributed into four groups: “platinum”, “gold”, “silver” and “bronze” according to the weight of collected points.

“Social responsibility, care of the employees’ well-being, environmental protection are important principles of PJSC Seligdar’s activity. Compliance with these principles is the fundamental task embedded in the Sustainable Development Strategy adopted a few years ago. We are glad that the rating’s expert jury appreciated Seligdar’s efforts in this direction,” Sergey Tatarinov, PJSC Seligdar’s CEO, commented.

One of the key dimensions of PJSC Seligdar’s activity is the employees’ health and life protection. The COVID-19 pandemic became a new challenge last year, the Company undertook the whole necessary complex of measures to counter the infection spread and protect employees’ health. Direct costs associated with the coronavirus totaled 233 million rubles for the year. The main part was attributed to additional payments to employees and measures to counteract the infection spread, to isolation and observation, employees’ testing, personal protective equipment and appliances. Seligdar supported the regions of its operations; in particular, the Holding allocated 10 million and 5 million rubles to help coping with coronavirus in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and the Republic of Buryatia respectively.

The social program for employees was expanded in 2020; the Company started offering voluntary medical insurance. Seligdar considers attraction of local personnel as another important element of work: 55% of the Holding employees are currently from the regions of operations. Seligdar Gold, the main employer of the Holding, was named the best participant of the Local Personnel into Industry project of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).

Seligdar pays much attention to ecological questions, to mitigation of negative environmental impact; the share of recycled and reused water at operations amounts to 94%. The constant work to introduce the safest technologies is being conducted: semi-dry stacking of tailings, ore bio-oxidation and other. Information openness is another important direction, number of disclosed metrics and amount of ecology-related information is growing. Seligdar’s position in the 2020 WWF rating of Environmental transparency for mining and metals companies operating in Russia improved by 10 places  up to 21th among 40 participants.
